TBM Thursdays a Holiday Hit!

This summer Link Alliance have been hosting fun and educational activations for the public at the Aotea Station site. ‘TBM Thursdays’ are your chance to see the Dame Whina Cooper tunnel boring machine (TBM) as its dismantled, and to meet the experts who work on the project.

The welcoming point is at the Te Pūkaki public information centre (corner of Elliott and Victoria Streets). Attendees are given a quiz to complete while walking the TBM trail, which takes you across the Aotea construction precinct, ending with a view of the underground station site on Mayoral Drive.

Get all the questions right on the quiz and receive a free Coffix coffee voucher, and a chance to win more local business vouchers and a “behind the scenes” tour of Aotea Station.

Last Thursday, our TBM Construction Manager, Derek Whelan, spent part of his day meeting our keen TBM spotters. In the first photo you can see the attendees keenly observing the site below as Derek answers their questions. The second photo shows a similar view of the site to what they were looking at.

Find out more information about TBM Thursdays and sign up for the last session next week here. Get in quick as tickets are limited to 100 people per session. Vaccine passes and masks are mandatory.

If you can’t make it to TBM Thursdays, you can take the TBM Trail in your own time. Start at 1 Elliott Street and follow the red polkadot road to the TBM information hoarding on Mayoral Drive.
