Identifying our MATES in Construction

The Te Wai Horotiu Station (Aotea) team receiving their MATES accreditation.

Protecting the wellbeing and mental health of our workers is a huge priority for the project, so we were thrilled to receive the MATES in Construction NZ accreditation for the Te Wai Horotiu Station (Aotea) team and the Fenton Street team at Maungawhau Station (Mt Eden).

MATES is a charitable organisation that partners with the industry to address and reduce the disproportionately high rates of suicide in construction workers. Since starting construction, CRL partnered with MATES to prioritise mental health. To do this, we offer our people training that equips them with the skills and knowledge needed to recognise and assist others who need support.

To receive accreditation over 1800 of our people are either trained as Connectors or in ASIST. This means that, at each of our seven worksites, you will easily find people who can recognise someone who is struggling and either connect them with a person who can help (Connectors) or create a safe plan when someone needs it the most (ASIST).
