Health & safety teams increase the health of the planet with huge tree planting effort

In early September, 17 health and safety professionals from across the City Rail Link project traded in their office attire for gumboots and hi-vis for a day of tree planting at the Atiu Creek regional park near Wellsford.

The team were grateful for the opportunity to help with the restoration of the area and managed to plant over 1000 native trees!

“I hope we have the opportunity to return to help plant more trees and see how our previous efforts have grown and developed over time” said Rob Mair, CRL General Manager of Health & Safety.

The team enjoyed learning about the native tree species being planted and were even treated to a traditional Kiwi BBQ afterwards.

One of the CRL health and safety volunteers, Edmund Cuevas, said it was an awesome experience bonding with the team and working together for a good cause.

“Also, it was an excellent opportunity to be outdoors planting NZ native trees and enjoying a well-earned ‘Kiwi barbie’ after.”
