CRL supports Auckland Photography Festival

As well as our Art Tile initiative, City Rail Link is partnering with the Auckland Festival of Photography to celebrate some of the best examples of creativity the region has to offer.

In June, the Karangahape Station site will showcase works of previous festival winners, runners up and entries. The Mt Eden Station site will also act as a venue to showcase these works, at a later date still being confirmed. All the images that will be showcased were taken in Auckland by Aucklanders and visitors to the city.

This fits in with the Link Alliance’s core values of developing the skills and knowledge base of Tāmaki Makaurau through collaborations with local schools, communities, training providers and other government agencies. The Link Alliance is a consortium of several companies contracted to build the main section of CRL tunnels and stations.

The annual festival encourages participation from people of all walks of life to share their unique stories through the democratic medium of photography.

More than 780,000 visits have been made to over 1100 festival exhibitions, talks, and events held across the city since the first Auckland Festival of Photography in 2004.

All festival activities showcase photography and are free to attend. The public are also invited to take photos every June for Nikon Auckland Photo Day.

Auckland Photo Day is the festival's annual 24-hour day-in-the life competition for the Auckland region. This year’s competition is scheduled for Saturday June 6 2020.
