Community and Local Events

Community Liaison Group

Community Liaison Groups (CLGs) are an important part of how we communicate to our communities

Group membership represents a cross-section of the community, including residents, property owners, businesses and interest groups in each area.

The groups meet regularly as:

  • an avenue for local community representatives to understand and share what’s happening in their area during construction

  • a way to monitor and give feedback on the effects of construction on their community

  • provide input into the preparation of a variety of different management plans designed to help manage the impacts of construction.

Local events

The Te Waihorotiu Station team works with a range of local partners to enhance the public’s experience in the area during construction. including through activations and events to encourage visitation and spending at local businesses.

These have included sponsoring live music in local restaurants, Support Local & Win campaigns, public perimeter site tours, Free Kawhee (coffee) Fridays, free ice-cream giveaways, Win Win Wednesday promotions, and regular collaborations with Heart of the City and Auckland Council.

Link Alliance also participates in popular arts and culture festivals such as City of Colour, Auckland Festival of Photography, Art in the City, Auckland Heritage Festival and Matariki.

We also have a public information centre soon to be relocated to the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets to attract people into the area and provide more information about the project.

If you have an idea for an event or activation or would like to get involved, please contact us.

Other Business Support Initiatives

The City Rail Link will bring considerable benefits to Auckland including a vastly improved rail network and attractive new streetscapes and public spaces. But we’re aware that you can’t build an underground railway in the middle of a bustling city without causing challenges for businesses in the neighbourhood.

Link Alliance celebrating International Womans Day in collaboration with Roma Blooms Florist and Heart of the City

The Link Alliance (CRL’s main contractor) works every day to minimise the impacts of construction and support the local community. Being a good neighbour is just as important as construction. Link Alliance remains agile with its suite of business support initiatives to mitigate the impacts on businesses as construction activity changes across the site. Find out more about the suite of business support initiatives available here

Local business association - Heart of the City

Heart of the City is the local business association in the Te Waihorotiu Station precinct and is also active in supporting local businesses. The Link Alliance team often collaborate with Heart of the City to promote businesses within the station precinct.
